Mid-century redesign of a Victorian mid-terrace

Clapham, SW London

The double reception room and kitchen of this Victorian terraced family home in Clapham were given a complete makeover by creating a contemporary take on a mid-century scheme. Our client wanted a cohesive scheme to tie the new kitchen extension in with the original double reception room and to lend ‘purpose’ to the rear reception room. We did this by creating a cosy snug area with bespoke corner sofa and alcove joinery to accommodate a TV. One-off vintage pieces of furniture were sourced to compliment the scheme and soft furnishings were added to create a comfortable space for all the family.

“We had the pleasure of working with Alex this year and couldn’t recommend her highly enough. Our brief was fairly broad: update three rooms with a more coordinated modern look, give the back lounge increased ‘purpose’, and soften the look of the kitchen. Alex spent considerable time with us in the early stages, making sure she understood our goals for the project, and also our design preferences. Linnea Interiors are also good at working to a budget, and often gave us low and not-so-low options for things. They have a real skill in mixing more affordable options, with a splash of more expensive items, to create a cohesive look that looks bespoke. We are absolutely delighted with the final outcome.”
